Job Description

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. SUMMARY

  • Coordinates the bone marrow, peripheral stem cell and cord blood transplantation program for MDACC patients and unrelated donors.
  • Performs searches for matched unrelated donors on national registries and maintains status reports working closely with the NMDP.
  • Ensures financial clearance, schedule patient tests and reviews results, arranges admissions and keeps patients/families updated on donor searches and the overall transplant process.
  • Arranges travel nationally and/or internationally as a courier for donor products.
  • Collaborates with physician clinical teams, department management, data managers and research nurses to complete and document patient care.
  • Maintains recipient and donor confidentiality. Responsible for collection and submission of charges for the search process.
  • Works closely with the Cell Therapy Laboratory to facilitate the delivery and receipt of donor products.
  • Educates patients and the general public regarding the search/transplant process.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a lab or human leukocyte antigen (HLA) experience.

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or other health care related field.
