TOKIDOKI, the sister cafe of Shalom Japan, a Michelin recognized, Jewish Japanese fusion restaurant helmed by James Beard Award-winning chefs Aaron Israel and Sawako Okochi, is hiring for their front of house team! TOKIDOKI means “sometimes” in Japanese. We function as a neighborhood cafe, bar and creative event space.
At TOKIDOKI, we are passionate about creating an authentic Japanese cafe experience in the heart of Brooklyn. Our cafe serves high-quality coffee, traditional Japanese teas, delicious pastries, and a range of bento boxes and onigiri. We pride ourselves on offering a warm, welcoming environment for both locals and visitors to enjoy. The TOKIDOKI cafe position is perfect for someone who has some hospitality experience and would like to add to their skillset. The opportunity to cross train at Shalom Japan is also available to the right candidate.


We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic team member to join us!

Responsibilities:
• Provide exceptional customer service to our guests with a friendly and attentive attitude.
• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including specialty coffees, teas, beer, wine and sake. No previous bartending experience is required.
• Assist with light food prep, and organizing to-go orders.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Ensuring par levels of coffee, teas, syrups and to go items are met every day.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times.
• Support team members and work collaboratively to maintain an efficient and positive atmosphere.
• Share your knowledge and passion for Japanese culture with our guests.

Requirements:
• Previous experience in a cafe or food service environment is preferred, but we’re happy to train the right person.
• A passion for and knowledge of Japanese cuisine is a requirement.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Knowledge of Japanese language or cultural references is a bonus.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must work clean and be a self starter.
