Job Summary

As the Construction Project Manager/Estimator , you will be the main point of contact from the moment a client calls about a new playground project until the final walkthrough. You’ll work primarily out of our Mifflinburg, PA office, with only occasional travel to project sites for estimating, inspections, and coordination with on-site foremen and crew leaders. Your responsibilities include preparing cost estimates, scheduling and coordinating logistics, managing inventory and equipment rentals, and ensuring each project meets scope, budget, and quality standards.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a construction environment, enjoys a mix of office-based and occasional field-based work, and has a keen eye for both the big picture and the smallest detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Estimating
  • Serve as the main contact for new and existing clients from inquiry to closeout.
  • Conduct site assessments (in-person or virtually) to generate accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment rentals, and subcontracted services.
  • Present proposals and negotiate contracts, ensuring clear understanding of scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Project Scheduling & Coordination
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to align tasks with the project plan.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing priorities and resources.
  • Contract & Compliance Management
  • Draft, review, and finalize contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and playground installation best practices (e.g., ADA requirements, ASTM, CPSC guidelines).
  • Supply & Inventory Oversight
  • Work closely with warehouse staff to track and manage inventory.
  • Oversee ordering and delivery of materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timeliness.
  • Coordinate equipment rentals and confirm availability for scheduled installations.
  • On-Site Collaboration
  • Communicate project plans and specifications to the crew leader or foreman who oversees day-to-day site work.
  • Conduct site visits (as needed) to monitor progress, verify quality, and address any emerging challenges.
  • Adjust timelines, budgets, or resources as necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Budget & Performance Tracking
  • Monitor project expenses, keeping them within approved budgets.
  • Identify potential areas for cost savings or improved efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Report on project performance metrics, sharing updates with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Quality Control & Safety
  • Ensure all installations comply with playground safety guidelines and local regulations.
  • Conduct periodic site inspections to confirm adherence to design plans and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the field crew to troubleshoot issues promptly, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Project Closeout & Follow-Up
  • Coordinate final walkthroughs and punch lists, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Gather and document feedback to improve processes for future installations.
  • Oversee warranty or maintenance follow-ups as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in construction, project management, or estimating; playground or recreational equipment installation experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction techniques, site prep, and general labor practices.
  • Education
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • Additional coursework or training in construction management, project management, or a related field is helpful but not required.
  • Skills & Attributes

  • Organizational Skills : Ability to juggle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.

  • Tech Proficiency : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management platforms, and/or estimating software.
  • Team Player : Able to collaborate with warehouse personnel, foremen, and field laborers toward common goals.
