Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (Specializing in Heavy Equipment) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports to: Fleet Manager or Maintenance Supervisor

Company Overview: Seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with extensive experience in maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, which includes Semi trucks, Heavy duty fork lifts, flatbed & lowboy trailers, diesel vehicles

Job Summary: The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and hydraulic systems on a variety of heavy equipment used in equipment moving, fleet vehicles and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both routine maintenance and complex repairs on equipment listed. This position plays a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs:

Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of heavy equipment, including semi trucks, fleet vehicles, trailers, forklifts, etc.
Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and braking systems.
Conduct routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks, and brake inspections to ensure vehicle longevity and safety.

Fleet Management:

Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on vehicles and equipment.
Ensure all equipment is compliant with local, state, and federal safety and emissions regulations.
Assist in managing the maintenance schedule to minimize downtime for vehicles.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE and following procedures for hazardous materials handling.
Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles such as semi trucks, trailers and heavy duty forklifts. Must have experience with multiple engine types
Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in diesel mechanics preferred but not required. CDL required
Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and brake repairs.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and various weather environments.
