Job Description

SUMMARY:

Central Catholic High School seeks an experienced and innovative Director of Academic Technology & Learning Platforms to lead the management, configuration, and optimization of educational technology platforms, including the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The Director of Academic Technology & Learning Platforms will work closely with administrators, faculty, the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation, the IT team, and staff to ensure the effective integration and use of technology that enhances teaching and learning. The role includes professional development, platform management, and strategic planning aligned with the school’s mission and academic priorities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Canvas LMS, overseeing system configuration, user accounts, access permissions, and course structure.
  • Design and facilitate hands-on training sessions, interactive workshops, and individualized support to help faculty and staff effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning. Create user-friendly resources, including guides, FAQs, and video tutorials, to support ongoing technology use.
  • Stay abreast of emerging educational technologies and recommend tools that enhance instruction and engagement.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to integrate technology into curriculum design and instructional delivery.
  • Support faculty in developing digital content, assessments, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Promote best practices for technology use across in-person, hybrid, and online learning environments.
  • Guide and support the responsible use of AI in education, including generative AI tools, in alignment with school policies and academic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, digital citizenship principles, and school policies in all technology practices.
  • Maintain and update system configurations and integrations to meet evolving institutional needs.
  • Oversee integration with systems such as AdminPlus, TeacherPlus Gradebook, and analytics platforms to ensure accurate data flow and reporting.
  • Coordinate installations, upgrades, and maintenance of academic technologies in collaboration with the IT department.
  • Act as a bridge between faculty, IT, administration, and external vendors to support the implementation and success of technology initiatives.
  • Support the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation in the development and execution of long-term strategies for academic technology and innovation and other related projects.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an educational setting involving technology integration, LMS use or support.
  • Experience integrating and managing tools such as IXL, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in applying AI in educational contexts is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in academic technology platforms, with the ability to evaluate, implement, and support emerging academic technologies that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Strong expertise in Canvas LMS administration, including course setup, user permissions, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of instructional design principles to support effective teaching in in-person, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver effective training and support across a wide range of users.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple initiatives while balancing short- and long-term goals.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy laws, digital citizenship practices, and compliance requirements in educational settings.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and forward-thinking, with a demonstrated interest in leveraging innovative technologies to improve learning outcomes.
