Job Description

Description We are looking for a dedicated Library Technician to join our team on a contract basis in Santa Barbara, California. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the school library, provide support to students and staff, and ensure the library remains an organized and welcoming environment for learning. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and interpersonal abilities. Responsibilities: - Manage the circulation, shelving, processing, repair, and inventory of library materials to ensure efficient access to resources. - Assist in ordering books and other library resources to maintain a current and relevant collection. - Perform clerical tasks such as generating overdue/lost item notices, preparing statistical reports, and maintaining electronic and monetary records. - Provide guidance to students and staff in utilizing the library's automated systems, print materials, media, and digital resources. - Support instructional activities by offering individual assistance to students and overseeing educational programs within the library. - Direct the work of employees and volunteers, ensuring tasks are completed effectively. - Maintain the library's appearance, ensuring it is clean, orderly, and visually appealing. Requirements - Proven experience in administrative assistance and customer service roles. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage files and schedules effectively. - Experience in data entry and scanning tasks with attention to detail. - Ability to coordinate shipping functions and schedule appointments. - Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with students, staff, and volunteers. - Ability to work independently while maintaining punctual and consistent attendance. - Prior experience in library operations or educational settings is preferred.
