Job Description

Position Summary:

Lead, plan, organize and direct the day-to-day functions associated with all phases of manufacturing eyewear orders generated by the opticals. Evaluate business and manage key metrics to improve operations and financial performance. Lead team to enhance strategy around quality, productivity, and turnaround goals. Focus on strategic operations to meet current needs and support planned growth. Support skill-based teammate training and professional development. Ensure compliance with all governmental, safety and company rules and regulations. Lead change and drive continuous improvement at the Optical Lab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make and/or approve major operational, production and business decisions to ensure production efficiency, high product quality and cost-effective management of resources.

• Determine staffing requirements. Oversee the process of interviewing, hiring and training new teammates.

• Communicate clearly and directly with teammates concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability. Communicate consistently and often in both individual and group settings

• Solicit feedback from field and centers to measure operational excellence

• Oversee large scale growth initiatives

• Drive continual improvement through regular evaluation of processes and procedures

• Provide continual service and support to the centers

• Achieve measurable Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) improvements

• Ensure teammates complete applicable Optical Lab training to perform all aspects of their job including safe and efficient equipment operations in addition to work and safety procedures as outlined in their respective job description

• Engage in ongoing research to remain up to date on new technologies in production and for possible implementation

• Provide department managers with input for teammate’s performance reviews and development plans

• Provide department managers and teammates with ongoing performance feedback

• Implement measures to motivate teammates and to improve morale, production methods, efficiency, equipment performance, productivity, and product quality

• Foster an inclusive culture for all teammates at the Optical Lab

• Ensure teammates follow all Optical Lab and company policies and adhere to safety related guidelines and OSHA regulations

• Ensure machinery is operating safely and effectively

• Ensure facility and grounds are maintained to safe standards

Minimum Knowledge, Experience and Skills Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or similar field

• 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing management or distribution management. Optical manufacturing experience is desired

• Experience with installation and service of manufacturing equipment

• Experience assessing and improving processes and workflow; Lean Six Sigma certification desired

• Demonstrated hands on leadership capability
