Location: Fountain Valley, CA

Department: Surgery Services

Status: Full Time

Shift: Days (8hr)

Pay Range*: $22.50/hr - $31.57/hr

$1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary

The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, in the Surgery Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center. He/she reports at all times to a supervising nurse. This position also indirectly supports patient care by providing clerical support to the unit as assigned. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities Of The Job

  • Meets population specific competencies.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform assigned tasks/duties

according to hospital policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates the ability to clean assigned area according to hospital policy, wearing

appropriate PPE during turn over between patients and terminal cleaning.

  • Demonstrates the ability and understanding of properly using chemicals per instructions.
  • Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participates in processes that improve the standards of care and practice in the delivery of

nursing service.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and completely use equipment in the performance of assignment.
  • Utilizes effective communication with patients, families, and staff members.
  • Supports sustainment of the Magnet culture.
  • Possesses knowledge of job specific competencies and demonstrates ability to safely perform

tasks associated with job responsibilities.

  • Maintains an orderly, clean, productive work environment, ensuring needed supplies are

readily accessible.

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Basic computer knowledge preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) years of recent Acute Care experience preferred
  • Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department

Education/Licensure/Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
