Project: Zoo Dojo

Location: Remote (USA BASED APPLICANTS ONLY)

Commitment: 5-10 hours weekly

Compensation: Volunteer-based with Revenue Bonus

**Contract Position**

About the Role

As a 3D Character Artist, you will help define the visual identity of Zoo Dojo's fighters, enemies, critters, and cosmetics. You’ll be responsible for modeling, texturing, and optimizing characters for animation in Unreal Engine 5 , along with other characters like NPCs or bosses. Your work will largely influence the overall polish and game feel for the player’s experience as a Kung-Fu fighter.

Responsibilities

• Create stylized 3D models for characters, enemies, and bosses.
• Translate 2D concept art into expressive, game-ready models.
• Sculpt or build higher-poly details and bake clean normals for lower-poly use.
• Apply textures and materials in line with the game’s visual style.
• Collaborate with animators and developers to ensure clean rigs and implementation.
• Optimize models for Unreal Engine 5 with efficiency in mind.
• Join team meetings and art reviews for feedback.

Requirements

• A portfolio showcasing your 3D character modeling and texturing work.
• Proficiency with modeling software like Blender, Maya, or ZBrush.
• Familiarity with stylized aesthetics and readable shapes/silhouettes.
• Basic understanding of UV mapping and low-to-high poly workflows.
• Ability to self-manage and communicate clearly in a remote team.
• Willingness to learn and receive feedback.
• No professional experience required – a great portfolio and attitude go far!
• Able to contribute 5–10 hours per week .

Bonus Points

• Background in 3D animation for video games.
• Previous experience working on stylized action games.
• Portfolio showcasing real-time combat animation and in-game characters.

Compensation

This is a volunteer-based role, with no upfront pay. However, as part of the team, you’ll receive:

• Revenue bonus from sales of Zoo Dojo.
• Access to internal production material, network, and attribution.
• Ownership of your work for portfolio use (with proper credit).
• Future opportunity for equity or paid roles as the studio grows

Full terms will be outlined in a Volunteer Contractor Agreement , which includes conditions for active involvement and eligibility.
