Job Description

About Counsel

Counsel’s mission is to provide patients unlimited access to personalized, high-quality medical advice from real clinicians. We believe in a future in which every person has a personalized, AI-enabled doctor always in their pocket. To accomplish this, we are building an AI-first medical practice from the ground up that automates across the entire clinical stack, allowing our in-house clinicians to provide superhuman medical advice that is near-instant, highly personalized, and always available. We believe that collaborative care models that integrate clinicians and AI are the key to solving global healthcare access challenges.

Since our founding in 2023, we have formed partnerships with leading healthcare organizations and are on track to serve hundreds of thousands of patients on our platform within the next year. We have raised over $10M from top-tier VC firms and angel investors, positioning us strongly to pursue our ambitious mission for years to come.

Our founding team includes experienced clinical and technology experts who have held senior roles at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, UCSF, the MIT Media Lab, NVIDIA, and Mount Sinai.

Join us as we build the future of AI in healthcare!

About the role

We are looking for an exceptionally talented, driven, and fast-moving mobile engineer to join our team in shaping the future of human + AI collaborative care models.

As one of our early engineers, you will have significant ownership and responsibility for our mobile product, with the opportunity to shape the direction of our engineering organization. You’ll collaborate closely with our founder/CEO, Medical Director, and founding engineers while working directly with leading healthcare organizations nationwide to push the boundaries of AI in clinical care.

We prefer candidates who can work from our office in New York, but we are open to strong remote applicants.

Our current mobile stack uses React Native and Expo and we have published apps on iOS and Android.

What you’ll be working on

  • Developing patient-facing features on our mobile app to enhance our AI-powered care delivery experience

  • Scaling mobile infrastructure with a focus on stability, performance, and data privacy

  • Building best practices for mobile development and moving more of our stack onto mobile.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in startups or fast-moving companies in mobile development

  • Proficiency with our tech stack: React Native, TypeScript, and a familiarity with iOS and Android native development

  • Experience scaling mobile applications to serve hundreds of thousands of users, including enterprise clients

  • Opinionated about best practices improving your own engineering skills and the team’s performance. Open to feedback and proactive in enhancing the team’s capabilities.

You are a good fit if

  • You are a self-motivated, creative doer who takes ownership of broad initiatives and drives them to completion, navigating ambiguity with ease

  • You have hands-on experience building from the ground up in fast-paced, high-growth environments, with experience at early-stage companies or through personal projects

  • You thrive on working alongside exceptional teammates and derive energy from collaborative environments

What we offer

  • Impact: Be at the forefront of AI-augmented care delivery, tackling some of the most ambitious challenges in healthcare.

  • Growth: Professional development and leadership opportunities within a rapidly expanding tech-enabled care delivery organization.

  • Exposure: Gain hands-on experience in scaling a fast-growing healthcare technology company and directly interface with executives at the world’s leading healthcare organizations.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary and equity options.

  • Benefits : Competitive healthcare, vision, and dental, cometeer coffee, snacks and free lunch at the office.
