$75,000-85,000 base plus bonus

BAR MANAGER: THE ROLE

Experimental Cocktail Club is on the lookout for an experienced Bar Manager to lead our vibrant bar team. We’re seeking a dynamic leader with a strong background in people management, excellent customer service skills, and a solid understanding of both operational and administrative responsibilities. A genuine passion for cocktails, the NYC cocktail scene, and an extensive knowledge of spirits and emerging cocktail trends are essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Bar Operations Day to Day

  • Manage bar systems, including proper setup and breakdown, prep/produce inventories, and waste logs.
  • Ensure the bar is appropriately stocked and ready for service.
  • Oversee the creation of exceptional cocktails for the guests and ensure Experimental cocktails standards
  • Uphold SOP’s for the organization of bar, well set up, drink specs and bar service to maintain high standard and consistency.
  • Monitor the organization of the liquor storage room and complete monthly inventory.

Health & Safety and Maintenance

  • Ensure that health and safety rules are applied and complied with.
  • Ensure the bar and its equipment are all maintained.
  • Address and follow up on any maintenance issues.

Team Management

  • Actively lead the team both behind the bar and on the floor, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional customer service and setting the tone for a fun but efficient work environment.
  • In collaboration with the GM, address staff concerns, manage complaints, and handle disciplinary actions in partnership with the HR and operations teams.
  • Recruit, train, manage and develop the bar team.
  • Create training programs and support continued team learning.
  • Create and monitor prep and cleaning schedules.
  • Serve at the highest-ranking Manager on Duty in the building 2 nights per week and be able to handle any and all guest complaints, staff concerns, government inspections, etc…

Financial

  • Partner with accounting to ensure timely financial reporting and adherence to budget deadlines.
  • Drive financial success by managing and meeting budget and margins.
  • Oversee inventory management to maintain efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Manage ordering of liquor, beer, sake, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and produce.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and products.

Marketing, Public Relations & Brand Relations

  • Collaborate with the management team to lead and execute marketing and PR strategies in line with seasonal activities and promotions.
  • Coordinate and execute events and brand activations that drive customer engagement, boost brand visibility, and generate buzz across multiple channels.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with brand reps.
  • Collaborate to develop content for Instagram and other relevant social media.

ABOUT YOU

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience running a successful cocktail bar in NYC.
  • Can work well autonomously.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and mentor employees.
  • You have flexibility to respond quickly and positively to a range of work situations.
  • You can read a P&L report and build a suitable strategy for the development of the brand within the NYC cocktail scene.
  • You demonstrate a hunger to learn and are hardworking.
  • You are deeply curious about everything related to cocktails and hospitality, and are enthusiastic about building your knowledge around service.
  • You are a team player and are always looking for ways to support and help your team members
  • You are a fast learner and are passionate about people and community
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and go up and down stairs.
  • Must have or must obtain a NYDOH Certificate in Food Protection
